- The remarkable thing called faith!
What is faith? How could faith ensure the promises of God would come about in Abraham’s life? Faith is found in our acceptance of Christ as our Savior and faith becomes our daily reality as we live it out as we follow Christ. Faith travels vast distances in the moment, when it first believes. Faith, at other times, can find the distance from believing to trusting to overcoming, quite vast and tedious yet faith is beyond sufficient to carry us as we believe and trust. Faith often travels vast distances each and every time it believes again and again in the face of hardships or difficulties. Faith travels the vast distance of abandoning the accepted, the seen, and the ordinary for the extraordinary, the unseen, and the impossible. Our faith must believe all things are possible in the power of our Savior and care of our Shepherd. Faith can joyously and abruptly find delight and truth, and just as quickly, faith can move slowly, strengthening as it trusts and obeys. It can be solid and secure, and it can also be tenuous, but faith will give strength as it holds unto Christ in the unknown and unseen.
This happens as our faith accepts and believes in the unseen and sometimes even the impossible, as it trusts in Christ alone, while at the same letting go of the seemingly obvious and logical things around us in life. Faith can quickly clear any hurdle or barrier directly in front of it, as it believes and faith can climb directly and purposefully up the roughest and most dangerous mountain trail because it believes in the Shepherd leading the way. Faith is belief and living, and it becomes more alive and vital as it grows, trusts, and obeys the one on whom the faith is focused upon. It has always been this way, from the times of Patriarchs and the saints until now. As Christians, our faith is in the Christ who saves, the Christ that abides, and, the Christ who will do all that He has promised. Thus, we can do all things through Christ, as we trust, obey, and follow Him in all of our days. Faith does not have to be complicated, or needlessly encumbered with details as it can be as simple as a child who believes and trusts in a Savior to save them. Faith is truly a remarkable thing, and faith does remarkable things.
20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. 22 And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous (New Living Bible Translation, Romans 4:20-22).
