The Guard at the Gate

A guard protects and watches for danger. A guard is alert and vigilant, scanning the surroundings and hidden edges of the protected space assigned to them. A guard listens with the utmost attention for the slightest sound that seems suspicious and uses every sense of their being to evaluate anyone that would encroach towards the one or group they are protecting. A guard is commissioned and appointed to fulfill their role with excellence and diligence in every area of their training and duty.

Believers in Christ can find strength and joy in their relationship and connection with Christ in every situation. Standing and trusting in Christ in everything and every moment negates anxiety as prayer and thanksgiving become the active focus and action. We thus take our anxiousness and lay it at the feet of our benevolent and gracious Heavenly Father and rest in His care and blessedness. His attentiveness to us brings a mighty guard to every moment and to every situation.

The mighty “Guard” that comes to protect and serve us is His peace. His peace is alert and active. Our Heavenly Father is always listening to requests and attentive to our emotions and thoughts. Rest assured that His peace is security at its finest. Rest assured that His peace is the greatest and most excellent “Guard” for our souls. Rest assured that His peace is capable of keeping us safe and protected. His peace is guaranteed by the “Prince of Peace” and is ours now and forevermore. Trust in His peace that passes understanding, and your heart and mind will find joy beyond compare.

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus (New Living Translation Bible, Philippians 4:4-7).
