Yod, ‘
The Mighty One, God the LORD has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its going down … Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge (New King James Bible, Psalm 50:1;6).
It is the first letter in the Ineffable Name of God, the name unspoken in the Jewish faith. It is the letter Yod in the Hebrew language. It is the Tenth letter in the Hebrew language and in the Hebrew language, letters contain numeric values, and thus numbers are written as letters. The Yod represents the completion of something. Thus, a completion of time, a season, a matter, a body, or a group of something. Thus, there are “Ten Commandments” which are essentially ten words from God in a completed directive on His plans for those in His covenant relationship. There were 10 Plagues as if to say, the purpose of the judgment in the plagues is completed.
The LORD God will judge the earth and its people. There will be a completed time. In a similar manner, we see Christ as the Perfected One who completes in every way, God’s eternal plan for salvation (Ephesians 1:1-5) and He will judge the living and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1). Thus, we are given everything needed for life and relationship with God in our complete salvation in Christ because there is no condemnation upon those that are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Again, as with the name of God, we find the Yod letter again as the first letter in the Hebrew name, Y’shua or Yeshua, (Hebrew: ישוע), Jesus Christ the Lord and Messiah of the world. All is completed, has been given, and all is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord!
Oh LORD God, we come unable to comprehend all that You are, and all that You have given to us in Jesus Christ our Lord, but we rejoice in the realization of the truth of salvation and our adoption as your children. Every thing that was needed, was given to us through Christ, and everything we need for life and salvation is found in Him. We thank you and praise your Name. Amen
