Alive for Today

All persons throughout the earth are alive, if they have life in them. The life in each person alive must repeatedly breathe in oxygen for their existence, continuance, flourishing, and survival. To cease breathing brings death and the disappearance of being alive.

The resurrection of Christ brings life to those alive, who believe in Him. Christians often talk of their salvation and of heaven and eternal life as their reason for life but Christ did not only rise from the dead for the victory over sin and everlasting future; Christ is alive for today. Christ is our breath of life.

Christ is alive in every moment to forgive us and free us from our sins and give us victory over death (Colossians 1:14; Corinthians 15:57). Christ is alive for today to provide for and secure the means for us to be empowered to become “a new creation” by the Holy Spirit being alive in us (1 Corinthians 5:17). Christ is alive for today as the Good Shepherd to comfort, guide and bring us abundant life (John 10:10-11).

Christ is alive for today to intercede for us in every way from the heavenly realms and provide for us every spiritual blessing in every heavenly place (Hebrews 7:25; Ephesians 1:3). Christ is alive for today to eternally guarantee our relationship as a “Child of God” (1 John 1:3). Christ is alive for today for all of these reasons and countless others because He is always with us as our resurrected Savior and Lord.

And behold, I am with you always until the end of the age (English Standard Bible, Matthew 28:20b).
